{"product_id":"p1573","title":"Bizen teacup","description":"This Bizen teacup is the work of Rokuro Nakamura, a master craftsman of Bizen ware revered as a god of sake vessel creation. Unlike his more traditional, reddish-hued pieces, this work possesses the robust character of a stronger firing. The surface displays a deeply fired shiso (perilla) color with an overlay of sesame ash glaze, while the reverse side reveals the soft scarlet hue characteristic of Nakamura's work. The piece comes in a new box and is an excellent example of his style in his later years.\n\nSigned wooden box (double-slat lid)\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 9.9cm x Diameter 9.7cm x Height 8.7cm\n\nBefore the end of the war, Rokuro Nakamura worked as a company employee, but in 1945, he began studying under Living National Treasure Toyo Kaneshige, refining his skills until establishing his own Rokuro Kiln in 1961. He preferred using the potter's wheel to create sake vessels like tokkuri (sake bottles), and also produced ho-bin (tea vessels), kyusu (teapots), and tea bowls using the tatara slab-building technique. His style was simple and wild, and as his work was unglazed, he placed great importance on the firing process and the meticulous arrangement of the kiln, which determined the quality of the finished pieces. He was named a Traditional Craftsman in 1986, the same year he received the Okayama Nichinichi Shimbun Award, and in 1989, he was awarded the Order of the Blue Paulownia Leaves in the spring decorations. He passed away in April 2004.","brand":"中村六郎","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46618361462881,"sku":"1573","price":35000.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0654\/9916\/8865\/files\/1573.jpg?v=1790235398","url":"https:\/\/tourakuen.myshopify.com\/en\/products\/p1573","provider":"川口陶楽苑","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
