p1881
Bizen Rice Bowl
This is a new Bizen rice bowl by Tsuyoshi Kaneshige, marking a new stage in his career following the completion of his anagama kiln in Kukui. Reminiscent of yamajawan (mountain tea bowls), this piece is stack-fired and features a rather soft, rich scarlet clay body. Its simple and quiet form would also make an intriguing small chawan for whisking matcha. Due to the softness of the clay, the color is expected to evolve significantly the more it is used.

Interview with Tsuyoshi Kaneshige

Paper box (Please contact us if you would like a paulownia wood box, and we will provide a quote.)
Diameter 12.4cm × 12.4cm × Height 6.5cm

Tsuyoshi Kaneshige was born as the second son of Intangible Cultural Property holder Michiaki Kaneshige and is the grandson of the great Living National Treasure, Toyo Kaneshige.
