p2014
Hidasuki tea cup
This is a Hidasuki (fire-cord) teacup by Yoshiteru Koriki, a popular young artist and apprentice to the master Sozan Kaneshige. The clay, which possesses the mugwort-colored earthiness and fine iron content inherited from Master Sozan, is beautifully accented by the elegant Hidasuki markings. The plump, charming form provides a gentle and warm feel in the hand, making this a truly soothing piece. The way Master Koriki applies the Hidasuki is exquisite; the variations—ranging from thick, powerful lines to delicate, ephemeral strokes and soft, sweeping patterns across the vessel—are incredibly expressive and fascinating. It matches well with tea saucers, making it a useful piece for when you have guests.

Paper box
Diameter 7.5cm × Diameter 7.4cm × Height 6.6cm

About Gift Wrapping

Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture.
