p2293
Rectangular plate
This Bizen tea cup is by Yukio Tomori, who began his career in ceramics in Okinawa and later studied under Taisetsu Sueishi in Bizen. Reflecting his philosophy of not imposing fixed forms or constraints, but rather letting the clay flow and capturing what he feels is the perfect moment, the work possesses a distinct sense of movement. Although it is a rectangular plate made using the tataki (beating) technique, both ends are sharply curved upward, masterfully balancing a sharp aesthetic with a practical design that prevents food from spilling. The plate also features a rare applied foot, showcasing Tomori’s meticulous attention to design.

"Yukio Tomori Special Feature"

No box
Diameter 24.4cm × Diameter 11.7cm × Height 6.0cm

Yukio Tomori was born on Miyakojima Island, Okinawa.
