{"product_id":"p2448","title":"Ibe Cylindrical Teacup","description":"This Bizen tea cup is by Mamoru Taku, an artist who has dedicated himself to the study of Old Bizen and stands out for his unique, profound aesthetic. Crafted from iron-rich clay, the surface takes on a texture reminiscent of iron glaze where it has mingled with ash during the firing process. The rim is generously coated in \"goma\" (ash glaze), featuring \"tamadare\" (bead-like drips) that appear like icicles. The powerfully upright body provides a solid presence in the palm, achieving a level of perfection that transcends the role of a tea cup, making it a piece that can also be enjoyed as a vessel for sake.\n\nSigned wooden box (Nihō-san style)\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 8.3cm × Diameter 8.1cm × Height 8.9cm\n\nMamoru Taku graduated from the Kyushu Sangyo University Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 1984 before being captivated by traditional crafts and entering the world of Bizen pottery. He studied the fundamentals of ceramic technique at the Bizen Ceramic Center, and after completing his studies, he apprenticed under Takaaki Kimura to further hone his craft. In 1983, he built an ascending kiln in Saeki and became an independent artist. In 1998, he moved his studio to Takebe and built a semi-underground anagama kiln. Focused on the theme of expressing the character of the clay, he creates large jars, sake vessels, and vases using the coil-building technique. He also works with \"Ibe-te\" (a style involving the application of slip onto the clay body before firing) and is committed to the harmony between clay, firing, and form. His work has been selected for exhibitions including the Japan Traditional Kogei Exhibition, the China International Ceramic Exhibition, and the Asahi Ceramic Exhibition.","brand":"多久 守","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46618450690145,"sku":"2448","price":6300.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0654\/9916\/8865\/files\/2448.jpg?v=1790236420","url":"https:\/\/tourakuen.myshopify.com\/en\/products\/p2448","provider":"川口陶楽苑","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
