p2491
Oya tokkuri
This large kiln-fired sake bottle is the work of Kazuhiro Mori, who follows in the footsteps of his father—a man who has dedicated his life to large kiln firing—and aspires to recreate the powerful beauty of ancient Bizen pottery through this traditional technique. The clay is used without refining or kneading, resulting in a unique, marbled texture with uneven composition. The piece is surprisingly lightweight, achieved by using a plaster mold for the body up to the shoulder and joining the neck on a potter's wheel, creating an airy, light feel when held. Fine black "tobi-goma" (splashed ash) glaze appears on the neck, allowing one to enjoy the distinctive scenery typical of large kiln firing while highlighting the marbled clay texture.

Signed wooden box to be provided at a later date (please allow some time for shipping).
Rim 3.3cm × Body diameter 9.2cm × 9.2cm × Height 14.5cm, Capacity approx. 540cc

About the "Kazuhiro Mori Special Feature"

Kazuhiro Mori was born as the eldest son of Togaku Mori and graduated from the Kyoto College of Art in 1987 and the Tokyo Glass Art Institute in 1991.
