Created in his final years, this piece perfectly embodies the simple, clear style for which Yu Bizen is known. The reddish clay body is adorned with yellow sesame (goma) glaze flowing from the shoulder, appearing almost as if it is draped in a mantle of sesame. It is a piece that captures the essence of the master—who dedicated himself to popularizing Bizen ware and pursuing a style that would captivate everyone—inviting the viewer to simply enjoy the clay, form, and firing exactly as they appear.\n\nSigned wooden box (shiho-san)\u003cbr\u003e\nRim 3.8cm × Body diameter 8.8cm × Body diameter 8.7cm × Height 12.1cm, Capacity approx. 300CC\n\nYu Fujiwara (1932–2001, born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture) was the eldest son of Living National Treasure Kei Fujiwara.
