p3241
Ido teacup
This is a new Ido-style teacup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing, and craftsmanship. The slightly large, straightforward form is elegant; while intended as a teacup, it is a work that can also be used as a shochu cup. The soft color palette, based on the loquat-yellow tone characteristic of Ido ware, is beautifully accented by deep, nuanced glaze effects including *amamori* (rain-leakage) and *gohonde* (pinkish spotting). Although it features a standard foot rather than the bamboo-node style, it showcases *kairagi* (plum-blossom crawling glaze), a hallmark of Ido ware, along with delicate crazing that allows you to enjoy the sensitive aging process characteristic of this style. (*Please note: Water may seep through if left filled for more than three hours.)

View blog posts about this teacup

Paper box included. *A signed wooden box (tomobako) can be produced for an additional fee.
Diameter 9.5cm × Diameter 9.3cm × Height 7.5cm

Yoshinobu Morimoto was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1976.
