p3242
Ido teacup
This is a new Ido-style teacup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing, and craftsmanship. The slightly large, unpretentious form is elegant, and while intended as a teacup, it is a work that can also be used as a cup for shochu. Based in a soft loquat color with faint crimson hues, the porcelain glaze covering the piece features distinct crackle patterns, giving it an indescribable sense of antiquity. Although it features a standard foot rather than a bamboo-joint style, it allows you to enjoy the *kairagi* (plum blossom skin) texture essential to Ido ware, with corresponding crackling that promises a sensitive, evolving experience as you use it. (*Please note: Water may seep through if left in the cup for over three hours.)

View blog post about this teacup

Paper box included. *A signed wooden box (tomobako) can be produced for an additional fee.
Diameter 10.1cm x Diameter 9.7cm x Height 7.4cm

Yoshinobu Morimoto was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1976.
