p3517
Bizen yohen sake cup
This is a new Bizen kiln-transmutation (yohen) sake cup by Takashi Baba, who was born in Imbe, has loved Bizen ware since childhood, and finds his life's joy in creating works and firing kilns. Fired with the intention of achieving an ash-covered (haikaburi) effect, the piece features kiln-transmutation in reddish-purple and gray throughout, giving it an appearance reminiscent of pumice stone. It possesses a presence that feels like a cross between Shigaraki and Bizen ware, with well-melted sesame glaze forming glassy crystals separate from the ash covering. The chic tripod design complements the monochrome color scheme of white ash-covering and black sesame crystals beautifully.

View the blog post about Takashi Baba's new works

Signed wooden box to follow (please allow some time for delivery)
Diameter 7.8cm × Diameter 7.6cm × Height 5.9cm

Takashi Baba was born in 1983 as the eldest son of Bizen ceramic artist Shosuke Baba.
