p3545
Bizen black sake bottle
This is a new Bizen black sake bottle by Takashi Baba, an artist born in Inbe who has loved Bizen ware since childhood and finds his life's joy in creating pieces and firing kilns. The piece has undergone overall reduction firing, transforming the entire black Bizen surface into an indigo hue. The "goma" (ash glaze) on the back has also been strongly affected by the reduction, resulting in fine-grained ash and scorching that spreads across the surface like fine-grit sandpaper. It is a very orthodox form, which is rare for Takashi Baba, and it stands out brilliantly alongside its transformed blue surface.

See the blog post for Takashi Baba's new works

Signed wooden box (futahozan style)
Rim 3.2cm x Body diameter 8.2cm x Body diameter 8.1cm x Height 13.7cm, Capacity approx. 350cc

Takashi Baba was born in 1983 as the eldest son of Bizen ceramic artist Shosuke Baba.
