p3727
Ibe-style cylindrical katakuchi (spouted bowl)
This is an Ibe-ware cylindrical katakuchi (sake server) from Yoshinobu Morimoto's new exhibition. Drawing on the sensibilities refined through his persistent study and interpretation of antique Bizen ware, the artist has created a piece with a vibrant form that exudes a sense of free-spirited vitality. Intended for casual evening drinks, this vessel was crafted with a focus on both its wabi-sabi aesthetic and practical ease of use and maintenance. It is an ideal piece for those just beginning to explore the world of sake. The clay body features a deep reddish-purple and black hue, accented by a rich, intense yellow sesame glaze—a level of refinement that makes the piece an accompaniment to drinks all on its own.

Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
Diameter 9.5cm × 8.0cm × Height 9.0cm

About the Yoshinobu Morimoto New Works Exhibition

Yoshinobu Morimoto was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1976.
