p3744
Hidasuki Katakuchi
This is a *hidaski* (fire-cord) *katakuchi* (spouted bowl) from Yoshinobu Morimoto’s new exhibition. It is part of a series that recreates the style of early Karatsu and *Oku-Gorai* (Old Korean-style) Karatsu—an era that began with the so-called "Tea Bowl War"—using Bizen techniques. Produced following the Karatsu method, these pieces are made in large quantities with a focus on speed, after which only the most exceptional works are selected for release. This particular piece is notable for the well-balanced combination of intent and spontaneity in its spatula marks and oval form. The vibrant, almost fluorescent *hidaski* markings are magnificent, perfectly complementing the rounded rim.

Signed wooden box (*shihō-zan*)
Diameter 16.1cm × 12.1cm × Height 7.2cm

About the Yoshinobu Morimoto New Works Exhibition

Yoshinobu Morimoto was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1976.
