{"product_id":"p3758","title":"Bizen sake bottle","description":"This is an older Bizen sake bottle by Izuru Yamamoto, an artist who draws on his background in sculpture to pursue a new sense of sculptural beauty within a traditional style. Following the forms established by his father, Toshu Yamamoto, it features a body with a wide, swelling girth and a remarkably small mouth. The piece has been fired with intense dedication; the reverse side displays a prickly \"hai-kaburi\" (ash-covered) effect, clearly having absorbed a massive amount of heat. The front side is equally striking, with a gray \"nuke\" (clear firing patch) framed by a golden-hued edge. (Please be aware that there is some minor staining due to age.)\n\nSigned wooden box (with double-bar lid) \u003cbr\u003e\nMouth 3.0cm x Body diameter 9.8cm x Diameter 9.8cm x Height 13.3cm; Capacity: approx. 480cc\n\nIzuru Yamamoto is the fourth son of Living National Treasure Toshu Yamamoto. After graduating from the Department of Sculpture at Musashino Art University in 1967 and its postgraduate program the following year, he studied sculpture at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris for two years. Upon returning to Japan in 1970, he apprenticed under his father and entered the world of ceramics, eventually building his own kiln and becoming independent in 1975. He creates works using techniques he developed himself, such as \"tatakikomi\" (beating-in), \"shussai\" (Izuru-style coloring), and \"tsumiage\" (stacking), in which slabs of clay are layered repeatedly. He became a full member of the Japan Kōgei Association in 1979. In 1980, he won the Encouragement Award at the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition. He received the Kaneshige Toyo Prize in 1985. In 1997, he received the Okayama Prefecture Cultural Encouragement Award and exhibited at the Bizen Ware Paris Exhibition. In 2002, he won the Grand Prize at the Tanabe Museum of Art's \"Sculpture of Tea Ceremony\" exhibition for a \"stacking flower vase\" created by mixing clay from Burgundy, France. In 2012, he was designated as a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property by Okayama Prefecture.","brand":"山本 出","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46618546864225,"sku":"3758","price":45000.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0654\/9916\/8865\/files\/3758.jpg?v=1790238193","url":"https:\/\/tourakuen.myshopify.com\/en\/products\/p3758","provider":"川口陶楽苑","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
