p3761
Hidasuki Sake Bottle
This is a Hidasuki (fire-cord) sake bottle from Yoshinobu Morimoto's new exhibition. Created as part of a series expressing the world of the tea ceremony, this bottle was specifically designed for use as an *azuke-tokkuri* (guest sake server), a highly formal implement used in tea-kaiseki. With the aesthetic consciousness of tea ceramics, the piece was fired with a clearly defined front, and the flowing Hidasuki markings were applied with a focus on visual appeal. The ink-like black body contrasts with the cinnabar-like Hidasuki, which appears to emerge from the surface, creating an undeniably powerful effect. Amidst the wabi-sabi earth texture lies a burning landscape; surely, the tea masters of old would have delighted in admiring and nurturing this work over time.

Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
Mouth rim 3.7cm × Body diameter 9.0cm × 8.9cm × Height 12.6cm

About the Yoshinobu Morimoto New Works Exhibition

Yoshinobu Morimoto was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1976.
