At first glance, this piece may appear modest with its orthodox *goma* (sesame) glaze, but it fully captures the quality of the clay that is the hallmark of the Kaneshige school. Its elegant character, which seems to bring out the very aroma of the sesame glaze and the clay surface itself, will captivate the heart of any sake lover. The exceptionally wide foot is reminiscent of the style of his mentor, Sozan Kaneshige, resulting in an impressive work that harmoniously blends strength and playfulness. (*Please note: There is a small blister caused by air in the interior of the cup; however, this does not affect its use.)\n\nSigned wooden box (shiho-san style)\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 7.2cm × Diameter 7.0cm × Height 5.6cm\n\nYoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his pottery-loving father, he aspired to pursue a career in ceramics. After graduating from high school in 1989, he apprenticed under Sozan Kaneshige and his son Yuho Kaneshige to learn the techniques of pottery. After seven years of training, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 to establish his independence, and held his first successful firing the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual solo exhibitions ever since.
