p4184
Bizen Sake Cup
This is a new Bizen sake cup, just out of the kiln by Jumpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kousuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige family. This latest work was taken from the kiln between late May and June 2016, and by slightly changing the firing method from previous firings, he has succeeded in further bringing out the specifications of the clay. With its exquisite combination of "nuke" (clear patches) in scarlet and the wet-feather color of ash-covered yohen, this piece perfectly conveys the appeal of Kaneshige's kiln transformation. The center of the body features a subtle "kakushi-bocho" style indented ring that fits the fingers perfectly, making it very easy to hold—a thoughtful touch by Mr. Jumpei.

View the blog post about Jumpei Kaneshige's sake cups

Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
Diameter 6.6cm × Diameter 6.5cm × Height 6.0cm

Jumpei Kaneshige was born in Komaba, Tokyo, in 1972 as the eldest son of Kousuke Kaneshige.
