For this reason, it exhibits an exquisite earthen quality that transcends modern aesthetics and approaches that of Old Bizen. The hidasuki (fire-cord) markings are applied as if to integrate with the clay surface, and their exquisite reaction with the falling ash creates a refined ito-goma (thread-like sesame glaze) that could easily be mistaken for Old Bizen.
