{"product_id":"p4448","title":"Bizen sake bottle","description":"This is a Bizen sake flask by Rokuro Nakamura, a master craftsman who took pride in Bizen ware and was celebrated as a god of sake vessel making. It includes a ceramic history document from around 1975, indicating that it was created when Mr. Nakamura was approximately 62 years old. It is a brilliant reproduction of the *henko* (flattened) sake flask, a classic design by his revered mentor, Toyo Kaneshige. The rounded, gentle, diamond-shaped form is perfectly matched to the size of his mentor’s original pieces. It features the characteristic combed patterns favored by Toyo Kaneshige, intentionally applied with a blurred or faint effect to create a remarkably natural aesthetic. The neck is quite thick—a signature style of Rokuro—which, combined with the widely flared rim, allows for a vigorous pour. The piece features a well-fired aesthetic that differs from the scarlet hues of his later years; its hard-fired *goma* (ash glaze) and *shiso* (perilla-colored) tones are easy to maintain, making it perfect for everyday use. (Please note that while there is almost no sign of use or staining, this is a pre-owned item.)\n\nOriginal signed wooden box (shiho-san style)\u003cbr\u003e\nRim 4.1cm x Body 11.0cm x Body 9.9cm x Height 11.5cm; Capacity approx. 400cc\n\nUntil the end of the war, Rokuro Nakamura worked as a company employee before apprenticing under Living National Treasure Toyo Kaneshige in 1945 to hone his skills. He established his own Rokuro Kiln in 1961. He preferred using the potter's wheel to create sake vessels like flasks, while also working with *tatara* (slab-building) techniques to create *houbin* (side-handled teapots), *kyusu* (teapots), and tea bowls. His style was rustic and wild; as a maker of *yakishime* (unglazed high-fired) stoneware, he prioritized the firing process and devoted great effort to the kiln-loading process, which determined the quality of his work. He was certified as a Traditional Craftsman in 1986, receiving the Okayama Nichinichi Shimbun Award that same year, and was awarded the Order of the Blue Paulownia Leaves in the spring of 1989. He passed away in April 2004.","brand":"中村六郎","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46618614005857,"sku":"4448","price":100000.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0654\/9916\/8865\/files\/4448.jpg?v=1790239100","url":"https:\/\/tourakuen.myshopify.com\/en\/products\/p4448","provider":"川口陶楽苑","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
