{"product_id":"p4473","title":"Bizen Sake Cup","description":"This is a Bizen sake cup by Rokuro Nakamura, a master craftsman of Bizen ware and renowned as a god of sake vessel creation. It is believed to be a work from his sixties or seventies, a period when he began to develop the distinctive style that came to define his later work. While it is on the smaller side for a piece by Nakamura, it is packed with the exquisite charm that captivates sake lovers, such as the rim pinched at three points and a solid, well-grounded form. Approximately one-third of the vessel is covered in a bright gray ash-covered kiln transformation (hai-kaburi yohen), and the earthy clay with its faint reddish hue promises years of enjoyment as you use and nurture it. As it is a smaller piece, it is also recommended for those who find standard Nakamura cups too large for their drinking preferences. (*Please note that the texture of the ash-covered area is somewhat moist, indicating it has been used.)\n\nOriginal signed wooden box (shiho-zan) *No cord included\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 7.3cm x Diameter 7.2cm x Height 5.0cm\n\nRokuro Nakamura worked as a company employee until the end of the war, but in 1945 he began studying under Living National Treasure Toyo Kaneshige to hone his skills, and in 1961, he built the Rokuro Kiln and became independent. On the potter's wheel, he favored making sake vessels such as sake bottles (tokkuri). Using the slab-building technique (tatara), he also created bubble-shaped pots, teapots, and tea bowls. Known for a rustic and wild style, he valued the firing process essential to unglazed stoneware and focused heavily on the kiln loading process, which determines the quality of the work. He was designated a traditional craftsman in 1986, the same year he received the Okayama Nichinichi Shimbun Prize, and in 1989, he was awarded the Order of the Blue Paulownia Leaves in the spring decorations. He passed away in April 2004.","brand":"中村六郎","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46618619347041,"sku":"4473","price":150000.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0654\/9916\/8865\/files\/4473.jpg?v=1790239117","url":"https:\/\/tourakuen.myshopify.com\/en\/products\/p4473","provider":"川口陶楽苑","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
