{"product_id":"p4599","title":"Gold and Platinum Painted Tachitate \"Salamander\" Black","description":"This is a \"Kiritachi\" (cylindrical) vessel in Gold and Platinum Leaf Salamander Black by Toru Ichikawa, who made a striking debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakinozaki. It is a highly original and exceptional piece, characteristic of Ichikawa-sensei, who brings his endlessly overflowing ideas to life through the supreme medium of clay. True to the \"Salamander\" title, the boiling-like gold leaf expressed in the series has been replaced by a boiling black glaze, which, combined with a rich dark crimson glaze, drastically transforms the atmosphere. The distinctive black glaze, as the name \"Salamander\" suggests, resembles the scales of a lizard, possessing a lustrous, alluring quality more akin to leather than ceramics. The fine particles within the boiling gold leaf have been randomly replaced with gold in several places, a detail that reveals the intensity and meticulousness of Ichikawa-sensei's craftsmanship. The gold leaf further accentuates the appeal of the unique black glaze, resulting in a mysterious work that feels as if leather, goldsmithing, and ceramics have all been fused into one. Titled \"Kiritachi,\" another name for a cylindrical \"mukozuke\" (side dish vessel), its lightweight and user-friendly design makes it versatile enough to be used not only as a mukozuke but also as a small beer glass or teacup.\n\nSigned wooden box (shiho-san)\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 7.0cm x Diameter 6.7cm x Height 7.8cm\n\nToru Ichikawa was born in Tokyo.
