{"product_id":"p4889","title":"Bizen sake bottle","description":"This is a new Bizen tokkuri (sake bottle) by Tamon Kaneshige, an artist who continues to hone his craft on the demanding path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. For this firing, the artist focused on achieving *kase-goma* (dry, matte-textured ash glaze) rather than the more heavily glazed *haikaburi* style. As a result, the piece is adorned throughout with a beautiful, slightly bluish-tinted *kase-goma*, a signature characteristic of the Maruyama kiln that he shares with his father, Susumu. Furthermore, the piece features deep, rich *hi-iro* (scarlet) flashes that attest to the quality of the clay; when in use, the wetting of the surface creates an exquisite harmony of changing textures that can be enjoyed with every pour. The gourd-like form of this piece is said to have been inspired by the works of Toyo Kaneshige, and because the clay was expertly stretched to create a generous size, the finished vessel is remarkably lightweight.\n\nSigned wooden box to be provided later (please allow some time for shipment).\u003cbr\u003e\nRim 3.1cm × Body diameter 9.3cm × Body diameter 9.0cm × Height 14.8cm; Capacity 490cc\n\nTamon Kaneshige was born in Okayama City in 1977.
