{"product_id":"p4932","title":"Ibe Shuten","description":"This is a newly fired Ibe sake cup by Yuho Kaneshige, an artist who, while belonging to the Kaneshige lineage, constantly questions himself and creates works as an individual potter named Yuho rather than as \"Kaneshige Yuho.\" This piece is a \"haikaburi yohen\" (ash-covered kiln change) creation, a style Yuho-sensei tackled with full confidence after much thought and reflection on working with this traditional technique within the Kaneshige family. True to Yuho-sensei’s near-reverent respect for clay, the quality of the material itself is impeccable, and the base scarlet hue displays a sublime, almost melting color. The two small \"nuke\" (fire-unaffected spots) within the ash-covered kiln change are stylish, resembling two moons floating in the night sky or upon a water's surface. While a fierce firing process often compromises the texture of the surface, this piece possesses a soft, gentle touch that fully satisfies the \"tactile sense\" that Yuho-sensei holds so dear. It is a work packed with the joys of pottery: one can first enjoy its magnificent firing, then appreciate the changing colors as sake is poured in, and further relish using it as a vessel, experiencing the process as it matures over time.\n\nSigned wooden box (shiho-san) included\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 6.4cm × 5.9cm × Height 4.9cm\n\nYuho Kaneshige was born as the third son of Intangible Cultural Property holder Sozan Kaneshige. He began studying pottery techniques under his father, Sozan-sensei, in 1975. He became independent in 1980 and held his first solo exhibition in Okayama. He produces tableware, focusing primarily on tea ceramics such as tea bowls, water jars, and flower vases. With tea bowls in particular—his favorite form—he prioritizes the internal structure (mikomi) while pursuing external balance. He has received the Prefectural Exhibition Sanyo Shimbun Award, the Chanoyu Modeling Exhibition Encouragement Award, and the Tanko Biennale Encouragement Award. He received the Japan Ceramic Society Award in 2003. He is also dedicated to solo exhibitions, which are held at various locations.","brand":"金重有邦","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46618665812065,"sku":"4932","price":55000.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0654\/9916\/8865\/files\/4932.jpg?v=1790239650","url":"https:\/\/tourakuen.myshopify.com\/en\/products\/p4932","provider":"川口陶楽苑","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
