{"product_id":"p4942","title":"Ibe Shuten","description":"This is a newly fired Ibe sake cup by Aritsu Kaneshige, a potter who, despite being part of the Kaneshige lineage, constantly questions himself and creates works as an individual potter named Aritsu rather than as \"Kaneshige Aritsu.\" This piece represents a *haikaburi yōhen* (ash-covered kiln-changed) work that Master Aritsu created with great deliberation, after much contemplation and thought regarding working with the traditional technique within the Kaneshige family. True to Master Aritsu’s almost reverent approach to clay, the quality of the clay itself goes without saying; it has been fired to the absolute limit to bring out its best qualities, resulting in a work that combines the moist texture of the earth with a rich, ink-like *yōhen* finish. While intense firing often compromises the texture, this piece has a soft feel that fully satisfies the \"sense of touch\" that Master Aritsu holds in such high regard. It is a work packed with the true appeal of pottery: first, enjoy the magnificent firing; then, enjoy the change in color when sake is poured in; and finally, enjoy using it as a vessel and witnessing its evolution as it matures over time.\n\nSigned wooden box (shiho-san)\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 6.2cm x 5.9cm x Height 5.1cm\n\nMaster Aritsu Kaneshige was born the third son of Intangible Cultural Property holder Master Sozan Kaneshige. He began learning ceramic techniques under his father, Sozan, in 1975. He became independent in 1980 and held his first solo exhibition in Okayama. He creates tableware, focusing primarily on tea ceramics such as tea bowls, water jars, and flower vases. With tea bowls, which he particularly loves, he prioritizes the interior structure (mikomi) while pursuing balance on the exterior. He has received the Sanyo Shimbun Award at the Prefectural Exhibition, the Encouragement Award at the Exhibition of Modeling in Tea Ceremony, and the Encouragement Award at the Tanko Biennale. He received the Japan Ceramic Society Award in 2003. He is also dedicated to his solo exhibitions, which are held in various locations.","brand":"金重有邦","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46618666139745,"sku":"4942","price":55000.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0654\/9916\/8865\/files\/4942.jpg?v=1790239667","url":"https:\/\/tourakuen.myshopify.com\/en\/products\/p4942","provider":"川口陶楽苑","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
