{"product_id":"p5161","title":"Bizen Sake Cup","description":"This Bizen sake cup is by Jumpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, the leading master of the Kaneshige lineage. Staying true to the traditional clay-making methods of the Kaneshige family, this piece was crafted using clay refined entirely by hand—without the use of any pug mills—and aged for several decades before use. The meticulously prepared clay retains an elegant color even amidst the intense firing that produces kiln-transmutation effects, while the subtle yellowish hue of the *nuke* (uncovered areas) offers the rustic, tranquil charm characteristic of Bizen ware. Conversely, the kiln-transmutation areas were fired with great intensity, demonstrating the artist’s trust in the clay; the foot, in particular, displays a *namako-hada* (sea cucumber skin) texture, allowing one to fully appreciate the deep, scenic qualities of the climbing kiln. The unpretentious, sincere, and composed style of the work is truly wonderful.\n\nSigned wooden box (shiho-san style)\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 7.4cm × Diameter 7.3cm × Height 5.2cm\n\nJumpei Kaneshige was born in Komaba, Tokyo, in 1972 as the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige.
