{"product_id":"p5204","title":"Bizen-yaki Chamfered Tea Cup","description":"This Bizen tea cup is by Koichiro Isezaki, the eldest son of Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki, who brings a fresh breeze to the world of Bizen pottery through his exceptional sense of style and masterful sculpting skills. Departing significantly from conventional tea cup designs, this piece is slightly smaller in size but features a powerful design heavily utilizing spatula cuts. After initially throwing the cup on the wheel to the rim, he evenly inserts a spatula from the midsection, cutting down to the base in one fluid motion. This creates a rhythmic alternation between the curves born from the wheel and the straight lines created by the cuts, resulting in a fascinating variation along the edges of the piece. The base is also distinctive; the spatula cuts on the body are further complicated here, creating an intriguing design reminiscent of a hexagonal nut. The firing, characteristic of an anagama kiln, yields a brilliant finish that is truly lovely. It comes in a paulownia box, making it perfect for gifts.\n\nSigned wooden box (shiho-san) \u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 8.0cm x Diameter 7.9cm x Height 7.3cm\n\nKoichiro Isezaki was born as the eldest son of Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki. The Isezaki family is a prestigious name in Bizen pottery; his grandfather was Intangible Cultural Property holder Yozan Isezaki, and his uncle was Intangible Cultural Property holder Mitsuru Isezaki. Koichiro himself aspired to be a potter from an early age. After graduating from the Department of Sculpture at Tokyo Zokei University in 1994, he studied abroad in the United States. He learned pottery for about two years under Jeff Shapiro, a potter based in New York City, which greatly broadened his perspective on art and ceramics. After returning to Japan in 2000, he trained under the guidance of his father's disciples. In 2002, he submitted his work to the Tanabe Museum of Art Tea Ceremony Exhibition for the first time and was selected.","brand":"伊勢崎晃一朗","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46618672595041,"sku":"5204","price":8000.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0654\/9916\/8865\/files\/5204.jpg?v=1790239947","url":"https:\/\/tourakuen.myshopify.com\/en\/products\/p5204","provider":"川口陶楽苑","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
