{"product_id":"p5306","title":"Bizen sake cup","description":"This is a new Bizen sake cup by Jumpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige family. Adhering to the traditional Kaneshige method of clay preparation, this piece is crafted from clay refined entirely by hand without the use of a pug mill, and aged for several decades before use. This meticulously prepared clay maintains an elegant hue even amidst the intense firing that creates kiln changes, and the soft, scarlet *hidasuki* (fire-cord) markings possess a rustic, soothing quality characteristic of Bizen ware. Conversely, the kiln-changed sections are fired with great intensity, trusting the clay’s integrity; the ash glaze, tinged with hints of blue-green, evokes a reef battered by rough seas and calls to mind the fierce flames within the kiln. In one singular spot, the ash glaze breaks like a delta, transitioning into a rough, bark-like *kase-goma* (matte sesame glaze), which serves as a rare and charming focal point within the intensely fired ash-covered landscape of this work.\n\nSigned wooden box (shiho-zan) with lid\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 6.7cm × Diameter 6.5cm × Height 5.4cm\n\nJumpei Kaneshige was born in Komaba, Tokyo, in 1972, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige.
