{"product_id":"p5446","title":"Bizen Hidasuki Shallot Sake Flask (scheduled to be featured in the May 2019 issue of Honoo Geijutsu)","description":"This is a freshly kiln-fired *hidaski* (fire-cord) sake bottle by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superior aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his mastery of clay, firing, and form. This reduction-fired *hidaski*, which Morimoto-sensei calls a \"nukimono\" (extracted piece), is named aptly; the vibrant colors are drawn out from within the clay to create an incredibly rich *hidaski* pattern. Across the luscious, chocolate-toned surface, deep vermilion cords bloom as if the fire still lingers within the work. Despite the lack of elaborate carving or flashy decoration, the piece possesses a subtle, interplay of movement—a testament to Morimoto-sensei's exquisite skill, polished through his continuous input from researching ancient ceramics and his relentless commitment to outputting thoughtfully crafted works. According to the artist, the reduction-fired *hidaski* is a profound technique, and the more one uses the piece, the more the clay surface develops character and depth. This piece is a scallion-shaped bottle inspired by old Bizen ware, showcasing a magnificent form characteristic of Morimoto-sensei’s love for antique ceramics.
