{"product_id":"p5570","title":"Hidasuki tea bowl","description":"This is a newly kiln-fired *hi-dasuki* (fire-cord) tea bowl by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who is in a constant state of evolution regarding his clay, firing, and form. The \"reduction *hi-dasuki*\" that Morimoto himself calls \"nukimono\" (extracted-ware) lives up to its name, as if the rich scarlet markings were drawn directly out from within the clay. For this piece, he used a soil that creates an incredibly dense surface where one can feel the fineness of the particles, set against a base of elegant, dark-brown earthy tones. The *hi-dasuki* markings have been applied with a deliberate, delicate fading quality; appearing clearly only in key areas, this actually heightens the vividness and presence of the colors. Reminiscent of the famous old Bizen tea bowl \"Tadaima,\" the piece is thoroughly calculated in every detail, yet skillfully masked by the rustic charm inherent to Bizen, resulting in a sophisticated form free of pretension. The treatment around the foot is particularly exquisite, reflecting the work of a dedicated researcher like Morimoto. According to Morimoto, reduction *hi-dasuki* has great depth, and he notes that the clay surface will only increase in character and enjoyment the more it is used.\n\nSigned wooden box to follow (please allow some time for shipping).\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 12.7cm x 12.3cm x Height 9.0cm\n\nYoshinobu Morimoto was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1976.
