{"product_id":"p5595","title":"Kuroshuten","description":"This black sake cup is the long-awaited debut work of Tomoyuki Oiwa, who studied ceramic techniques under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is a new piece fired in the third kiln-opening of a climbing kiln he designed and built himself in Kamigori, Hyogo Prefecture. Mr. Oiwa aims for intense firing, which gives his black works a deep luster while drawing out beautiful yet powerful *goma* (ash glaze). In particular, the yellow *goma* that accumulated on the back flowed downward and solidified on the front of the piece, creating a \"bead drip\" effect with the beauty of a gemstone. The black slip, created by mixing a minute amount of metal oxide into Bizen black clay, has been transformed by the intense heat, resulting in a blue kiln-change (*ao-yohen*) around the foot. This piece was thrown thickly and then boldly carved with a spatula, resulting in a sake cup with a majestic presence reminiscent of Uluru.\n\nSigned wooden box (please allow some time for shipping)\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 7.2cm x 6.3cm x Height 6.3cm\n\nTomoyuki Oiwa was born in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture in 1977.
