{"product_id":"p5678","title":"Kuroshuten","description":"This is a black sake cup by Tomoyuki Oiwa, who has made his long-awaited debut after studying pottery under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is a new work fired in the third firing of his own anagama kiln, which he designed and built in Kamigori, Hyogo Prefecture. Mr. Oiwa aims for intense firing, which gives his black pieces a deep luster while bringing out beautiful, dynamic \"goma\" (ash glaze). This intense firing transforms the black into a magnificent color, resulting in a clear, glossy black identical to that of his mentor, Mr. Kakurezaki. The generously applied yellow ash glaze has melted well into a glassy state, matching perfectly with the deep, lustrous black to create a sophisticated beauty typical of black-fired stoneware. This piece was thrown with a thick body and then boldly cut with a spatula, resulting in a sake cup with an imposing presence reminiscent of Ayers Rock.\n\nSigned wooden box to follow (please allow some time for shipping)\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 6.7cm x 6.3cm x Height 6.7cm\n\nTomoyuki Oiwa was born in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture in 1977.
