{"product_id":"p5712","title":"Ibe Tokkuri","description":"This is an Ibe-ware sake bottle by Kosuke Yashiro, an artist who spent his formative years dreaming of working with Bizen ware in Ibe, finally realizing his lifelong ambition by building his own kiln there and making his debut. It is a quintessential Bizen piece that reflects the dedication of Yashiro-sensei, who fell in love with the works of the many potters who were born, raised, and laid to rest in Ibe, and who committed his life to Bizen pottery. It features \"magma\" kiln transformation—a more idiosyncratic variation of the ash-covered kiln effect that is the hallmark of climbing kiln firing—with a silvery ash glaze shimmering through a deeply reddish base. Yet, it is not merely intensely fired; the base retains the simple, rustic expression of unglazed clay, conveying a poignant, unpretentious quality, as if the soil itself were gently dissolving. This sake bottle offers a vastly different impression depending on the viewing angle. Its straight, scallion-like shape, which seems to embody Yashiro-sensei’s sincere and unadorned passion for Bizen ware, resonates deeply with the soul. (*Please note: Due to the slightly porous nature of the clay, sake may seep through if left in the bottle for an extended period.)\n\nNo box included (If you would like a signed paulownia box, please feel free to ask for a quote.)\u003cbr\u003e\nRim 3.9cm x Body Diameter 9.4cm x 9.4cm x Height 13.3cm; Capacity approx. 350cc\n\nKosuke Yashiro was born in Sapporo, Hokkaido in 1979.
