{"product_id":"p5713","title":"Ibe ware tea bowl","description":"This is an Ibe tea bowl by Gosuke Yashiro, who spent his formative years dreaming of working with Bizen ware in the town of Ibe, and who finally debuted after achieving his long-held dream of building his own kiln there. It is a quintessential Bizen piece that reflects the spirit of Yashiro-sensei, a man born and raised in Ibe who dedicated his life to Bizen ware after falling in love with the works of the many potters who lived and died in this historic pottery town. This piece was created through an intriguing firing technique: to achieve the desired effect, a rod was extended through the stokehole to hook the vessel from its shelf and drop it directly into the glowing embers formed on the kiln floor. The kiln transformation gained by this \"dive\" into a sea of embers has resulted in a full ash-covered finish, with a gray surface that completely obscures the natural clay and gives the piece a unique, striking presence. In some areas, the ash coating has turned white, creating a landscape reminiscent of a piece of antique Bizen recovered from the sea. The simple cylindrical shape of the bowl is sure to beautifully showcase the vibrant green of the tea.\n\nNo box included (please feel free to contact us for a quote if you would like a signed wooden box).\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 11.5cm x 11.5cm x Height 9.8cm\n\nGosuke Yashiro was born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, in 1979.
