p5719
Bizen ware rice bowl
This is a brand new Bizen rice bowl, just taken from the kiln by popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, a former apprentice to the late master Sozan Kaneshige. This rice bowl is crafted from mountain clay, and its coarse texture pairs perfectly with a bitter chocolate earth tone. For this firing, the artist aimed for a sophisticated, subdued finish, with dark mustard-colored sesame glaze (goma) contrasting beautifully against the rich, bitter chocolate surface. The iron content within the mountain clay has been brought out by the kiln firing, creating a smooth, coated-like finish across the entire surface that significantly improves the experience of using the bowl. Bizen ware rice bowls are excellent for serving, as rice is less likely to stick to the surface and the vessel absorbs excess moisture, making the rice taste even better.

No box included
Diameter 12.7cm x 12.4cm x Height 6.5cm

*Shipping fee of 500 yen applies.

Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture.
