{"product_id":"p5736","title":"Ibe Shuten","description":"This is an Ibe sake cup by Kosuke Yashiro, who spent his formative years dreaming of working with Bizen ware in the town of Ibe, and finally debuted after realizing his lifelong ambition of building his own kiln there. It is a straightforward piece of Bizen ware, true to the style of Yashiro-sensei, who has dedicated his life to the craft, inspired by the works of the many potters who were born, raised, and laid to rest in Ibe. Fired indirectly like a steam-baked piece rather than being placed directly in the flames, the entire surface features a matte, orange finish reminiscent of Nanban-yakishime. Additionally, the well-balanced inclusion of small stones adds a tasteful atmosphere to the Nanban-style surface, with fine craftsmanship evident as they shift with the spatula marks or peek out from the clay body. The interior features a subtle, single *hidasuki* (fire-cord) marking, which creates a scene where the deeper orange of the *hidasuki* appears to emerge when sake is poured into the cup.\n\nNo box included (please feel free to ask for a quote if you would like a signed paulownia wood box).\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 9.0cm x 8.6cm x Height 3.5cm\n\nKosuke Yashiro was born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, in 1979.
