{"product_id":"p5753","title":"Bizen Sake Cup","description":"This Bizen sake cup is the work of Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his mastery of clay, firing, and form. It is a Bizen-style piece that Morimoto refers to as \"kaburimono\" (covered ware), where layers of goma (ash glaze) and sangiri (reduction firing effects) overlap to form a rich, layered kiln-altered appearance. However, the true essence of this piece lies in the exquisite \"nuke\" (unfired or exposed areas) created during the firing process; the superb shadows cast within the hard-fired, refined surface are masterful. Rather than the soft-fired \"nuke\" often seen in contemporary Bizen, he pursues the tightly fired \"nuke\" that was truly present in antique Bizen pottery, completing a three-dimensional and dense texture by adding \"kaburimono\" and \"nuke\" to a rich, chocolate-like clay surface. By firing the piece covered in straw—much like antique Bizen—the straw's components bind with the natural glaze to create white goma and ito-goma (thread-like ash markings), resulting in a magnificent landscape where both brilliance and a withered, refined elegance coexist.\n\nSigned wooden box to be provided later (please allow some time for shipping).\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 6.1cm × 5.8cm × Height 5.4cm\n\nYoshinobu Morimoto was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1976.
