{"product_id":"p5760","title":"Bizen Sake Cup","description":"This is a Bizen sake cup by Shosuke Baba, the father of popular artist Takashi Baba, whose works captivated people with their understated yet impactful presence. The piece fully demonstrates the refined pottery skills he honed under Zenji Uragami, resulting in a work that maintains a distinct originality within a form inherited from his mentor. It features a jar-like shape with very prominent wheel marks, and a single spatula mark—a hallmark of his mentor—is placed at the center of the body. The piece combines well-melted yellow sesame glaze with a shiso-red hue featuring metallic highlights, the latter of which bears a striking resemblance to the style of his son, Takashi Baba. The constricted center of the body allows for a comfortable grip.\n\nSigned wooden box (two-way crossbar)\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 6.1cm × Diameter 5.8cm × Height 5.3cm\n\nShosuke Baba was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1947.
