p5764
Kiritachi Re:Origin II
This is "Re:Origin II," a newly fired cylindrical vessel by Toru Ichikawa, an artist who made a sensational debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is an exceptionally creative work, true to Ichikawa’s style of bringing his ceaseless flow of ideas to life through clay, the ultimate medium. This latest piece in the Re:Origin series features his signature unconventional style, boldly adorned with glazes that look as if they might flake off at any moment. By layering black and pink glazes and finishing with a milky glaze over the entire piece, he has brought a sense of harmony to these contrasting colors. The sheer volume of the glaze is truly incredible—it feels as though it might burst at any second. Designed as a cylindrical vessel with an accompanying plate, it is a luxurious piece that can be used as either tableware or a glass.

Signed wooden box (drop-lid)
Body: 7.8cm x 6.9cm diameter x 9.2cm height
Plate: 10.3cm x 10.1cm diameter x 1.6cm height

Toru Ichikawa was born in Tokyo.
