{"product_id":"p5773","title":"Bizen nerikomi plate","description":"This is a Bizen \"nerikomi\" (marbled clay) plate by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create craft that matches modern lifestyles. It is an eight-inch plate characterized by its marble-like texture, created by mixing and firing ten different types of clay. It was crafted by meticulously pounding the clay—primarily rice field soil—to fill the gaps between the particles, and its complex pattern and unprecedented color palette evoke an irresistible urge to pick it up and use it. Because the marbling clay used is prone to melting, the artist employs a technique of creating a single base slab and gradually wrapping the marbled clay around it, resulting in the spiral-like patterns of the coil-formed clay. The \"hidasuki\" (fire-cord) markings placed here and there bring interesting variations to the marble-like surface, making this a piece of tableware of a high standard in appearance, texture, and usability.\n\nNo box\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 23.3cm x Diameter 23.2cm x Height 4.5cm\n\nKoji Nakahara was born in Osaka Prefecture in 1978.
