{"product_id":"p5776","title":"Bizen Gourd-Shaped Sake Bottle","description":"This Bizen gourd-shaped sake flask is by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superb aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing techniques, and form. The work features a Bizen-style surface that Morimoto himself describes as a \"kaburimono\" (covered layer), where layers of sesame (goma) glaze and sangiri markings overlap to create a dense, kiln-altered exterior. Yet, the essence of this piece lies not there, but in the exquisite \"nuke\" (uncovered areas) that emerge through the firing process of that outer layer—creating sublime shadows across the hard-fired surface. Rather than the \"soft-fired nuke\" often seen in contemporary Bizen, Morimoto pursues the firm-fired nuke that was truly present in ancient Bizen wares, adding the covered layer and nuke to a rich, chocolate-like clay base to achieve a three-dimensional, dense texture. By covering the piece with straw during firing, as in ancient Bizen, the straw’s components have reacted with the natural glaze to create white and thread-like sesame markings, resulting in a magnificent landscape where opulence and rustic simplicity coexist. In terms of form, the line of the mouth rim and the tilted neck are masterful, reflecting the work of an artist who pours his heart into studying masterpieces of ancient ceramics.\n\nSigned wooden box to follow (please allow some time for delivery).\u003cbr\u003e\nMouth rim 2.5cm × Body diameter 8.8cm × 8.8cm × Height 14.8cm　Capacity approx. 250cc\n\nYoshinobu Morimoto was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1976.
