{"product_id":"p5784","title":"Bizen tea cup","description":"This Bizen tea cup is by Takashi Soga, who challenges the aesthetic of antiquity by recreating the same conditions in which Old Bizen pottery was fired. To replicate the style of the Old Bizen period, he forgoes the use of firebricks; consequently, it is fired in a kiln that defies all modern common sense regarding internal heat efficiency. As a result, it exhibits a superb earthen texture that transcends contemporary beauty, rivaling that of authentic Old Bizen. The base of the piece has a reddish-brown clay surface, with erupted iron and fine stone inclusions that create a rustic aesthetic indistinguishable from ancient wares. Furthermore, this is complemented by a deeply fired, crimson-colored *hi-dasuki* (fire cord) pattern; by applying a thin layer of gold leaf solely to the *hi-dasuki*, the decoration becomes one with the clay body while appearing to emerge only under certain lighting conditions, creating an incredibly sophisticated appearance. Despite such an intense firing, the piece has an exceptionally smooth and gentle texture, allowing you to fulfill the dream of enjoying tea in an Old Bizen-style vessel while getting lost in the softness of the ware itself.\n\nNo box\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 7.8cm × 7.7cm × Height 9.4cm\n\nTakashi Soga was born in Tokyo in 1984.
