{"product_id":"p5796","title":"Rock glass: The Sixth Heavenly Demon King","description":"This is the new \"Dairokuten Maoh\" rock glass by Toru Ichikawa, who made a stunning debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is an exceptionally creative work, true to Ichikawa-sensei’s style of giving form to his endless stream of ideas through the supreme medium of clay. The title of this piece, \"Dairokuten Maoh\" (Sixth Heaven Devil King), refers to what Nobunaga is said to have written in a letter to Shingen, and the work was created with the Sengoku warlord Oda Nobunaga—who met a tragic end just before unifying the country—in mind. A pale cherry-blossom colored glaze is poured over the black glaze, a technique that makes the black glaze appear indigo. The base of the piece is finished with platinum luster, which functions to highlight the three-dimensional volume of the splattered glaze. In contrast, the form is a simple rounded shape, focusing attention on the expression of the various hues created by the glazes.\n\nSigned wooden box (shiho-zan)\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 10.0cm x 9.5cm x Height 10.7cm\n\nToru Ichikawa-sensei was born in Tokyo.
