{"product_id":"p5828","title":"Bizen Sake Cup","description":"This Bizen sake cup is by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing, and craftsmanship. This Bizen-style piece, which Morimoto himself describes as \"kaburimono\" (covered ware), features layers of \"goma\" (ash glaze) and \"sangiri\" (kiln-floor reduction) that form a profound and heavy kiln-altered appearance. However, the true essence of this work lies not in that alone, but in the exquisite \"nuke\" (clear, unglazed patches) created during the firing process; the superb contrast of light and shadow emerging from the tightly fired surface is magnificent. Rather than the soft-fired \"nuke\" often seen in contemporary Bizen, he has pursued the tightly fired \"nuke\" that truly existed on ancient Bizen pieces, completing a three-dimensional and dense texture by adding the \"kaburimono\" effect and \"nuke\" to a rich, chocolate-like clay surface. The sake cup form is perhaps the most compatible shape for such \"nuke,\" with the interior bowl simply and clearly recreating the \"nuke\" that Morimoto seeks to express. On the exterior, straw was applied during firing, just as in ancient Bizen, allowing the straw components to bind with the natural glaze to create white and thread-like \"goma,\" resulting in a stunning landscape where splendor and wabi-sabi elegance coexist.\n\nSigned wooden box to be provided later (please allow some time for shipping).\u003cbr\u003e\nDiameter 8.4cm x 7.9cm x Height 4.6cm\n\nYoshinobu Morimoto was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1976.
