{"product_id":"p5839","title":"Ibe Shuten","description":"This is an earlier Bizen sake cup by Iwao Kaneshige, an artist who was born and raised in the prestigious Kaneshige family and who continues to work diligently at the kiln where the great Toyo Kaneshige and Michiaki Kaneshige fired their works for generations. This is a rare piece in the traditional Bizen style from an artist who has focused increasingly on glazed pottery in recent years. The quality of the clay is reminiscent of his father Michiaki's work, and the shiso-colored surface, made from high-quality clay, radiates a rich, viscous luster that truly speaks for itself. The entire piece features beautiful green \"kase-goma\" (dry sesame ash glaze), a finish that is sure to delight long-time fans of the Kaneshige tradition. The base shows marks from the \"dosenbo\" (clay pedestals) used to prevent the piece from fusing to the kiln furniture, which create a space within the clay's texture, resulting in a deep, penetrating scarlet hue. The balance between the \"ishihaze\" (popped stone) that crisply emerges in the interior and the quality of the clay is exquisite, instantly captivating the viewer with its profound charm.
