p5964
Bizen Sake Pourer
This brand-new Bizen sake pourer, fresh from the kiln, was created by Yoshiteru Kōriki, an artist who pursues his own creative vision without pretense, despite having studied under Sozan Kaneshige and Yūhō Kaneshige.
A latest piece from a June 2020 firing, this sake pourer for chilled sake is perfect for those new to Japanese sake.

The piece is crafted using high-quality rice-paddy clay that Kōriki painstakingly prepared, resulting in a rich, brownish texture that looks just like melted chocolate.

The interior and the foot feature subtle *hidasuki* (fire-cord) markings. While it is generally understood that achieving a balance between *goma* (ash glaze) and *hidasuki* is difficult due to the precise temperature control required, this work displays excellent coloration in both, illustrating Kōriki's skill in firing the kiln.

When in use, the subtle hues of the *hidasuki* deepen significantly as they absorb moisture, and the alluring *goma-hidasuki* will let you enjoy your sake down to the very last drop.

No box included
Diameter 15.0cm x 10.7cm x Height 6.7cm

Yoshiteru Kōriki was born in Akō City, Hyōgo Prefecture, in 1970.

After graduating from high school, he studied ceramics for seven years starting in 1989 under Sozan Kaneshige and Yūhō Kaneshige.

In 1996, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, to become independent, and fired his first kiln the following year.

He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held solo exhibitions every year since.

In 2002, his work was selected for the Tea Ceremony Sculpture Exhibition for the first time.
