p6290
Ibe Yunomi
This is an Ibe teacup by Kosuke Yashiro, who spent his years of apprenticeship dreaming of working with Bizen ware in Ibe, and finally made his debut after successfully building his long-awaited kiln in that very place.
This piece is a straightforward expression of Bizen ware, true to Yashiro, who fell in love with the works of the many potters who were born and passed away in Ibe, and dedicated his life to Bizen pottery.

While the overall coloring is very subdued and austere,
it possesses a rustic charm that is the very essence of Bizen ware.

The grey *kase-goma* (dry sesame glaze) applied sparingly only to the rim and the interior pairs beautifully with the rich, brownish clay, effectively bringing out the qualities of Bizen-style pottery made with rice field clay (*ta-tsuchi*).

The piece clearly reflects Yashiro’s characteristic meticulousness in finishing each work one by one, offering both the ease of use afforded by its thin construction and a captivating form.

Due to the slightly porous nature of the clay, liquid may seep through if left inside for an extended period.

No box included
Diameter 7.9cm x 7.9cm x Height 7.6cm

*Shipping fee is 500 yen.

Kosuke Yashiro was born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, in 1979.

Around the year 2000, he began his apprenticeship under various kiln masters and artists in Ibe, Bizen City.

He built his own kiln and became independent in Ibe in September 2016.
