p6531
Bizen mug
This Bizen mug is by Yoshiteru Koriki, who pursues his own approach to creation without pretense, despite having studied under Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.
This piece was taken from the kiln in September 2021.

It is a wonderful mug that allows you to enjoy the authentic look of climbing-kiln firing at an affordable price.

By firing with a generous amount of fuel, a luster has developed across the entire piece, which, combined with the hue of the clay surface, creates an appearance reminiscent of melted chocolate.

Furthermore, the luster gives the entire surface a coated feel, improving the tactile experience of using it.

Having been fired at the front of the climbing kiln, the front of the mug is covered in plenty of "goma" (ash glaze), which acts as a bright accent against the rich, earthy texture of the clay, enhancing its appearance.

While it is a mug with a wide bottom and generous capacity, it has a sleek design as noted above and is finished with a comfortable, moderate weight.

No box included
Diameter 11.1cm x 9.0cm x Height 6.5cm

*Please note that a shipping fee of 500 yen will be charged.

Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture in 1970.

After graduating from high school, he studied ceramics for seven years starting in 1989 under Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.

In 1996, he built a climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City to strike out on his own, and fired his first kiln the following year.

He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held solo exhibitions every year since.

In 2002, he was selected for the Chanoyu Zokeiten (Tea Ceremony Modeling Exhibition) for the first time.
