p6545
Bizen ware mug
This Bizen mug is by Yoshiteru Koriki, an artist who pursues his own creative vision without pretense, despite having studied under Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.
This piece was taken from the kiln in September 2021.

It is a wonderful mug that allows you to enjoy the authentic scenery of climbing kiln firing at an affordable price.

By firing the piece with an abundance of fuel, a luster has developed across the surface, which, combined with the color of the clay, creates a look reminiscent of melted chocolate.

Furthermore, the aforementioned luster creates a coating-like effect, ensuring the mug is stress-free to use, despite being made of earthenware.

Because it was fired at the front of the climbing kiln, the front is adorned with a generous amount of "goma" (ash glaze), which provides a brighter accent that enhances the rich character of the clay.

Relatively large for a mug, its size is close to that of a beer mug, making it suitable for use year-round, such as chilling it beforehand to enjoy a cold beer.
No box included
Diameter 11.8cm x 9.3cm x Height 9.3cm

*Please note that there is a shipping fee of 500 yen.

Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1970.

After graduating from high school, he studied ceramics for seven years under Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige starting in 1989.

In 1996, he built a climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, to work independently, and fired his first kiln the following year.

He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000, and has held solo exhibitions every year since.

In 2002, he was selected for the Tea Ceremony Molding Exhibition for the first time.
