p6664
Hidasuki small bowl
This is a newly fired *hi-dasuki* (fire-cord) small bowl by Yoshiteru Koriki, who pursues his own creative path without pretense while having studied under the masters Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.

This is a brand new piece, just taken from the kiln in May 2022.

Fired in a custom-made electric kiln capable of wood-firing, it is fired over the same duration as a traditional *noborigama* (climbing kiln). The moist texture and the deep, rich *hi-dasuki* coloring that seems to soak into the very core of the clay reveal how thoroughly he has inherited the techniques of his mentors.

On the inside, you can enjoy the surface expression created by circular *hi-dasuki* patterns layered over the potter's wheel marks, while the exterior features lines of *hi-dasuki* that run freely in all directions.

After being thrown thin on the wheel into a circular shape, the piece was hand-molded into a *kagamimochi*-like tapered form. The elegance of the thin walls combined with the subtle distortions from the hand-shaping process create a beautifully refined, intentionally rustic aesthetic.

This small bowl is about twice the size of a *sakazuki* (sake cup), making it a versatile size for various uses.

No box included
Diameter 9.7cm x 9.7cm x Height 5.7cm

*A shipping fee of 500 yen applies.

Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1970.

After graduating from high school, he studied ceramics for seven years starting in 1989 under Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.

He built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 and held his first firing the following year.

He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has continued to hold annual solo exhibitions ever since.

In 2002, he was selected for the Tea Ceremony Molding Exhibition for the first time.
