p6702
Bizen Large Tea Cup
This is a brand new Bizen large yunomi tea cup fresh from the kiln by Yoshiteru Koriki, an artist who pursues his own creative path without pretense while having studied under the masters Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.

This is a latest work, having been removed from the kiln in May 2022.

This piece is a very large yunomi that allows you to enjoy the persimmon-orange clay texture—a popular style among Koriki's works, which are prized for their varied scenery and earthy quality.

The soft, low-fired clay absorbs moisture instantly upon use, changing color to a lush, ripe fruit-like hue for your enjoyment.

Half of the piece features a unique texture that could be described as an "infant" *kase-goma* (matte ash glaze), with a powdery natural glaze forming a gray, skin-like landscape.

It is an intriguing work that combines the scarlet clay tones—the most prone to change among the many *yohen* (kiln transformations) of a climbing kiln—with a large form that is close to that of a small cylindrical tea bowl.

No box included
Diameter 9.3cm x 9.2cm x Height 10.7cm

*Please note that a shipping fee of 500 yen applies.

Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1970.

After graduating from high school, he studied ceramics for seven years starting in 1989 under masters Sozan Kaneshige and Yuho Kaneshige.

In 1996, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, to become independent, and fired his first kiln the following year.

He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000, and has continued to hold solo exhibitions annually since then.

In 2002, his work was selected for the Tea Ceremony Ceramic Art Exhibition for the first time.
